Originally based in Christchurch, Maureen and Mark came to be Mangawhai locals in 2017 as it fitted their criteria of ‘near to the sea and close enough to a big centre’, as well as having friends in the area – ‘its lovely here, neat place, been a good choice’.
“Besides a variety of international wines, spirits and beers, we carry a selection of local and neighbouring product from wineries and breweries including Te Whai Bay Wines, Millars Vineyard and BrookeLane, and Sawmill, 8 Wired and McLeod’s, with Mangawhai newbie Pacific Coast added to the list once up and running.” He says local businessman Evan King, owner of Wood St Pizzeria and No Limits Surf ‘n’ Skate, had ‘a great sense of vision’ when developing the shop, with its rustic decor, succulent front garden, and stocking beverages a bit different from those usually found in supermarkets or other licensed shops.
